AI agent
What does it mean?
An AI agent is an AI system that autonomously carries out tasks to reach a goal, rather than only answering a question. An agent can plan steps, call tools and systems (such as email, calendar or a database) and assess intermediate results — with human oversight where it matters.
Where an ordinary chatbot answers a single question, an agent completes an assignment: it decides which steps are needed, executes them through connected systems and checks its own work along the way. Think of processing an incoming quote request, drafting a reply and scheduling a follow-up.
Agents are powerful but require clear boundaries: which actions may they take themselves, where is human approval needed, and how do you log what happens? At Gaide we build agents that work demonstrably safely and traceably.
