The State of AI Adoption in Dutch Business

Gaide's annual study of how Dutch organisations put AI to work — not based on hype, but on practice. We combine research among organisations with what we see ourselves in our own AI projects.

What is the State of AI Adoption in Dutch Business?

It is Gaide's annual benchmark study of AI adoption in the Netherlands. It maps how organisations use AI, what holds them back and where they invest. The basis: research among Dutch organisations, combined with what we see in our own practice.

  • 60+ AI projects delivered in practice
  • 1,700+ people trained in AI skills
  • 250+ agents built that run day to day
  • Grounded in practice since 2022

Why a benchmark of AI adoption in the Netherlands?

Everyone talks about AI, but few organisations know where they stand relative to the rest. Are we ahead or behind? Are comparable companies investing more, and in what exactly? Without an honest reference point, it is hard to make well-founded choices.

That is why Gaide maps the state of AI adoption in Dutch business every year. Not a vendor story and no promises about the future, but a sober picture of what really happens: how many organisations use AI structurally, where it delivers value and which obstacles get in the way most often.

The report deliberately leans on practice. Alongside research among organisations, we use what we see ourselves as forward deployed engineers: across more than 60 projects, training over 1,700 people and building more than 250 agents since 2022. That combination gives a sharper picture than a survey alone.

This page is the announcement of the study. Below you will read what the report is going to measure, which figures we can already share, and how to stay informed or take part in the data collection.

What the report measures

Four themes are central to the study. For each theme we map how Dutch organisations are really doing — the concrete figures follow once data collection is complete.

Adoption rate & maturity

How far along are Dutch organisations really with AI? We map how many companies move from experimenting to structural use, and how mature that use is — from standalone tools to embedded processes.

Areas of application

Where is AI actually deployed? We look at the departments and processes where AI delivers the most value, from customer contact and marketing to operations, finance and HR.

Barriers

What holds organisations back? We examine the main obstacles around data quality, knowledge and AI literacy, and governance — including the role of the EU AI Act.

Expectations & investment plans

Where is it heading? We gauge expectations for the year ahead and how organisations plan their investments in people, tooling and policy.

Our own figures

The report starts with data we hold ourselves. This is our track record from practice — the foundation on which we build the wider study.

60+

AI projects

Delivered at Dutch organisations, from first pilot to organisation-wide roll-out.

1,700+

people trained

In practical AI skills and AI literacy, from leadership to the shop floor.

250+

agents built

Working AI solutions that run day to day inside real work processes.
